REAL ID DEADLINE

As part of our commitment to support your travel needs, we want to highlight important information regarding REAL ID compliance. Beginning May 7, 2025, a REAL ID-compliant license or an acceptable alternative will be required for domestic air travel and access to federal facilities. Travelers without the proper ID will not be permitted to pass through security checkpoints after this date.

To ensure that your student athletes, staff, and associated personnel have the necessary identification for future travel, please consider the following steps:

  1. Check Your ID: Verify if your current state-issued ID is REAL ID compliant. Look for a star in the upper right corner.

  1. Gather Required Documents: If any of your IDs are not compliant, individuals will need to present specific documents to obtain a REAL ID. These typically include:

    • Proof of identity (e.g., birth certificate, passport)

    • Proof of Social Security number

    • Proof of residency (e.g., utility bill, bank statement)

  2. Visit Local DMV: Encourage your travelers to schedule an appointment with their local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to apply for a REAL ID. Students can typically obtain a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or state ID in the state where they are attending school, provided they can show proof of residency, such as a utility bill or lease agreement. This is possible even if their permanent address is in a different state. Please ensure students are aware of this requirement as they prepare for air travel and other federal facility access.

  1. Plan Ahead: As processing times may vary, we recommend starting this process soon to ensure a smooth travel experience.
