American Airlines is upping its inflight Wi-Fi game in a big way.
Just months after making its on-board internet free for most passengers, the Fort Worth-based airline on Tuesday announced plans to upgrade its connectivity with satellite service from Starlink. Installations will begin early next year.Around 500 of the airline's single-aisle planes will get the ultra-fast service. That's far from American's entire fleet, but it will certainly allow the airline to offer an improved browsing experience for passengers on a sizable portion of its jets.​​..read more   Delta cuts food and beverage service on short flights
Delta Airlines will stop providing any food or beverage service on short flights of 349 miles or less, affecting roughly 450 daily flights (about 9% of its schedule) starting May 19, while keeping full service on longer routes and for Delta First customers.
The airline said it's making changes to its in-flight food and beverage service, including removing the offering from around 450 daily flights, or about 9%.
"Beginning May 19, Delta is adjusting onboard beverage service to create a more consistent experience across our network," a Delta spokesperson told USA TODAY on May 4.
The Atlanta-based airline carrier will no longer provide any food or beverage service on flights of 349 miles or less, including routes such as Los Angeles to San Francisco. Delta will also offer full food and beverage service on flights of 350 miles or more for Delta Comfort and Delta Main Cabin passengers, which is about 14% of its daily flights...read more  ​​​​​ Airline miles may not go as far as the Iran war drives up fuel costs and summer fares
Users of credit cards that accrue airline miles and points toward various travel perks are likely to find their balances won’t take them as far this summer.
As jet fuel prices have jumped during the Iran war, so have the cost of airline tickets and fees for checking bags. Airfares in April were 21% higher than a year earlier, the Labor Department reported last week. Flights already are more expensive during the summer since there’s more demand.
